On November 20, 2019, the Sports Registrar, Rose Wasike, wrote to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) through the Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT), requesting the cancellation of the national elections scheduled for December 7, 2019.

The request was made due to FKF's alleged non-compliance with the Sports Act 2013, which requires all federations to have at least eight County Sports Associations.

Wasike argued that FKF's constitution is in violation of the Sports Act, and that the federation is using non-existent County Sports Associations to vote in officials.

FKF's elections were set to commence on November 23, 2019, across the 47 counties in the country, paving the way for the national polls on December 7, 2019.

However, the Sports Registrar's request has thrown the credibility of the polls into doubt, and it remains to be seen whether the FKF Electoral Board will defy the body mandated with accepting or declining any election results.

SDT chairman John Ohaga is set to deliver judgment in a case where five FKF Presidential aspirants are challenging the composition of the FKF's Electoral Board.
