Published on November 20, 2019, the DCI issued a warning to Kenyans about the increasing cases of online fraud.

According to the DCI, scammers are using various tactics to deceive unsuspecting individuals, including promising jobs in and outside the country, selling products online and demanding full payment in advance, and purporting to sell real estate properties.

Additionally, fraudsters are calling unsuspecting individuals claiming to be service providers in banking or mobile money platforms, and using intimidation and threats to obtain their personal credentials.

The DCI is urging those who may have lost their documents to report to the police immediately to avoid getting caught in the web.

Probing cybercrime may involve a lengthy and complicated procedure due to the elaborate nature of execution, the country's top investigator noted.
