On November 20, 2019, a chaotic scene unfolded in Kisumu when a traffic police officer was shot by a colleague during a confrontation with Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers.
The incident occurred at the Mamboleo roadblock early Wednesday morning when the anti-graft detectives attempted to arrest the police officers.
According to an EACC official, one traffic police officer fired at the EACC officers from the Kisumu regional office, but unfortunately, the bullet hit one of his colleagues.
One of the traffic police officers managed to escape shortly after the incident.
The officers involved have been arrested and taken to Mamboleo Police Station for identification by the station OCPD and OCS.
Once the identification is complete, the EACC officers plan to brief the media on the circumstances leading to the incident at their Kisumu Regional Offices.
