Published on November 20, 2019, Samburu North MP Alois Lentoimaga is facing allegations of incitement to violence and cattle rustling in his constituency.

On Monday, Lentoimaga spent over six hours at the directorate of criminal investigations in Maralal town, answering questions about the claims.

According to Samburu County Criminal Investigations Officer Kiberenge Seroney, other individuals will be summoned for questioning to determine the root cause of the cattle raids in Samburu North.

"He has given us his position, we shall continue summoning others as well so that we get to know what are the genesis of these raids in Samburu North," Seroney said, adding that the police were analyzing Lentoimaga's statements first.

Lentoimaga denied the allegations against him, stating that he is an elected leader and a lawmaker for the country and has served for over 30 years in public service.

He attributed the increased cattle rustling in his constituency to the government's failure to recover stolen livestock and apprehend suspects, as well as the failure to recover guns stolen from police officers.
