Published on November 20, 2019, Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru appeared on Citizen TV's News Night show, hosted by Wahiga Mwaura, where she confidently stated that the government would find a way to fund a referendum for the BBI report.

As the de facto leader of the Team Embrace women group, which supports the BBI agenda, Governor Waiguru emphasized the importance of a stable country, likening the current state of the country without a BBI referendum to a war-like situation.

When questioned about the financial tenability of a referendum, Governor Waiguru responded by asking, 'What is the cost of running a stable country as opposed to funding a referendum that would ensure stability going forward? Even in business, we talk about the opportunity cost.'

She further stated, 'I can tell you confidently that the government will find a way of raising the money to fund a referendum.'

However, many Kenyans have questioned the feasibility of the government's claim, given the current economic struggles and austerity measures.
