Leah Momanyi, a 24-year-old fourth-year student at Kisii University, was found dead in her house in Sunton, Kasarani, on an unspecified date in 2019. The body was discovered by her boyfriend, Benson Chacha, who had just arrived from Migori.
Chacha told Citizen TV that he found Leah's lifeless body on the bed with bloodstains on the floor. He described the scene as 'very confusing'.
'Kuingia nikampata amelala across the bed half-naked (Upon entering the house, I saw her lying across the bed half-naked),' Chacha said.
According to the postmortem result, Leah was raped, strangled, and stabbed to death. The caretaker of the apartment told DCI officials that he heard screams at around 11:35 pm on the night of the incident but couldn't locate where they were coming from.
Leah, who had come to the city to work and raise money for her school fees, lived alone. Kenyans have called upon DCI to speed up the investigations and help Momanyi's family get justice.
