Emergency Fundraising Made Easy

On November 20, 2019, Safaricom introduced an online portal that allows Kenyans to apply for short-term M-Pesa paybill numbers for emergency fundraising. This innovative service enables individuals to raise funds for various needs, including medical expenses, education, funerals, weddings, and charity.

The online portal is designed to simplify the application process, making it easier for individuals to access the funds they need. To apply, users must select the reason for their fundraising and provide the required documentation, which varies depending on the purpose of the fundraise.

Once the application is submitted, it will be processed within 24 hours, and users will receive a notification on their phone. The paybill number will be active for a maximum period of six months, after which it will be deactivated. Users can withdraw funds using the shortcode 2344#.

The online portal is a significant step forward in providing Kenyans with a convenient and accessible way to raise emergency funds. With this service, individuals can focus on their needs without the hassle of navigating complex application processes.
