Two Women Claim Jonathan Moi's Estate in Bitter Dispute ¶
Two women, Faith Nyambura and Beatrice Mbuli, have moved to court to claim control of the estate of the late Jonathan Moi, the eldest son of former President Daniel Moi.
According to court documents, Faith Nyambura claims she was married to Jonathan Moi in 2008 under Agikuyu customary laws and had three children with him. She alleges that Jonathan Moi used to provide for her and the children, giving her a monthly upkeep stipend of KSh 1 million.
However, Nyambura claims that Jonathan Moi's first wife, Sylvia, secretly obtained letters of administration of the estate and has been sidelining her and the children from the estate since Jonathan Moi's death and burial.
Court documents show that Sylvia made a petition for the grant of letters administration of the late Jonathan's estate on July 8, 2019, and was granted letters of administration by the court on October 15, 2019.
Beatrice Mbuli, the other woman claiming to be Jonathan Moi's wife, also filed an application, stating that she was married to Jonathan Moi in 1998 under Akamba customary laws and had two children with him, besides two children she had from a previous marriage.
Both women are seeking to be enjoined as administrators of Jonathan Moi's estate alongside Sylvia.
However, Sylvia has objected to their demands, stating that the estate is not generating any income and is unable to pay the KSh 1 million monthly upkeep stipend demanded by Nyambura.
The dispute has left the two women facing financial difficulties, with Nyambura claiming that she has incurred debts of upkeep and fees arrears of KSh 631,206.25.
