On November 19, 2019, Joseph Muchiri, the prime suspect in the murder of Faith Wangui, was found dead in Mau Narok, Njoro, in an apparent suicide.

Nakuru County Police Commander Stephen Matu confirmed Muchiri's death, stating that the body was taken to the Nakuru Municipal Mortuary for further investigation.

According to Matu, Muchiri left behind a note, in which he claimed that he could not withstand the blame for Wangui's death, particularly from her elder brother, Joseph Mwangi.

Matu quoted Muchiri's note, saying, 'I cannot withstand losing my precious wife. I am being blamed for her death. Let me now follow her.'

Wangui, a 25-year-old mother of two, had been reported missing for a week before her body was discovered dumped in a thicket near Menengai Crater in Kiamaina Ward, Bahati, Nakuru County.

Herders who were grazing their livestock at the crater on Saturday evening discovered Wangui's badly-mutilated body.
