On November 19, 2019, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) lifted the suspension of Silverstone Airline's Dash 8 aircraft, which had been grounded since November 12, 2019, following a series of scary near-accident incidents.
The suspension was lifted after the airline provided satisfactory corrective measures as per the requirements of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2018, following comprehensive audits conducted between October 24 and November 15, 2019.
On November 18, 2019, the airline had threatened to sack all its pilots and crew members after the KCAA's decision to ground its fleet.
However, in a statement on November 19, 2019, the KCAA said it will continue to undertake continuous surveillance on the private airline to guarantee travelers' safety.
"KCAA will continue to undertake its continuous surveillance on the operator (Silverstone) as they resume normal operations for the Dash 8 series aircraft effective November 19, 2019. All other aircraft in the fleet of Silverstone Air Services remain operational," the aviation regulator said.
The state corporation further urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and report any air safety-related case to it for action.
"The authority in its capacity undertakes operational surveillance on the Kenyan aviation industry and reassures the public that safety and security within the Kenyan airspace is of paramount priority. We encourage you to remain vigilant in reporting all safety concerns," it said.
