Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) grounded Silverstone Air's Dash 8 fleet on November 12, 2019, after a plane's rear wheel detached during take-off from Lodwar Airstrip in Turkana County on October 28, 2019. The incident forced the plane to land at Eldoret International Airport.

On October 11, 2019, a Silverstone Air plane crashed on the runway at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, injuring two passengers. The Lamu-bound airplane had 5 crew members and 50 passengers on board.

Following the KCAA directive, Silverstone Air has issued a one-month redundancy notice to staff, citing huge losses incurred due to the grounding of its Dash 8 fleet. The airline has also cancelled its scheduled flight operations until further notice.

According to KCAA Director General Gilbert Kibe, Silverstone Air cannot operate until a report is issued on the incident that led to the fall of the wheel.
