On Tuesday, a postmortem examination was scheduled to take place at the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for three bodies linked to the case of Major Peter Mugure. However, the autopsy has been postponed to allow detectives to conduct further investigations.
Major Peter Mugure was arraigned in court on Monday, as investigations into the murder of Joyce Syombua and her two children continue. He was detained for 21 days after police requested more time to unravel the complexities of the case.
According to Peter Mailanyi, Central Region Senior Deputy Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, 'We believe there are other suspects still at large who are involved and police need to trace and arrest them.'
The bodies of Joyce Syombua and her two children, Shanice Maua (10) and Prince Michael (5), were discovered on Saturday, after being reported missing for 21 days. The children's bodies were found stacked on top of their mother's.
The matter is set to be mentioned in court on December 9, 2019.
