On October 31, 2019, a violent dispute erupted in Dandora, Nairobi, between two neighbors over a Sh30 debt. The incident led to a serious assault that left one neighbor with two missing teeth.
Mercy Wambui Mwaura, the accused, allegedly knocked off her neighbor's two teeth after Quinter Auma asked for her money. Auma had passed by Wambui's shop and asked for her Sh30 debt, but Wambui did not have the money.
Wambui reportedly followed Auma to her house, where she assaulted her before neighbors intervened and rescued the complainant. Auma was rushed to a nearby clinic and treated before reporting the matter to the police.
On November 19, 2019, Wambui was charged before the Makadara Law Court with causing grievous bodily harm. She denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh30,000. The case will be heard from March 18, 2020.
