On November 19, 2019, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) released a list of the top 10 most corrupt counties in Kenya for the year 2019.
According to the EACC, Tana River and Kilifi counties topped the list of most corrupt counties, followed closely by Lamu. The list highlights the need for increased anti-corruption efforts in these regions.
Interestingly, counties like Nairobi, Mombasa, and Nakuru were not included in the list. The EACC's findings also suggest that the majority of counties in the list are from arid and semi-arid areas, where residents are in greater need of support.
Below is the full list of the top 10 most corrupt counties in Kenya for 2019:
- Tana River
- Kilifi
- Lamu
- Wajir
- Migori
- Kisii
- Vihiga
- Garissa
- Laikipia
- Mandera
On the other hand, Nyandarua and Makueni were among the least corrupt counties in Kenya.
