Published on November 19, 2019, a court case has revealed a bitter dispute over the estate of the late Jonathan Moi.
Beatrice Mbuli Kipkemboi Moi, one of the widows of the late Jonathan Moi, has accused Senator Gideon Moi of sidelining her in a fight over who should be listed as the administrator of the deceased's estate.
According to court papers, Mbuli claims she was married to Jonathan Moi in accordance with the Akamba Customary Law on July 17, 1998, and they had two children together.
Mbuli states that she and her co-wives, including the first wife Sylvia Jonathan Moi, agreed to jointly apply for letters of administration of the estate on behalf of their respective households and children on June 27, 2018.
However, Mbuli alleges that the petitioners, including Sylvia and Gideon Moi, intentionally omitted her and her children from the list of beneficiaries of the estate, thereby disinheriting her family.
”That the petitioners have obtained the letter from the area chief indicating the deceased had only one wife and her children, a fact she knew to be false,” the court papers read.
