Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala has faulted the United States for imposing a travel ban on former Attorney General Amos Wako, saying it was a mistake and that Deputy President William Ruto should have been targeted instead.
Malala argued that Ruto, who has been accused of various corrupt dealings, including graft, land issues, and embezzlement of public funds, was the right person to be banned from traveling to the US.
The senator described the ban as 'mischievous and insincere' and claimed that some people may have connived to have Wako and his family banned from setting foot in the USA.
Malala called on the US government to lift the ban, saying it was unnecessary and tactless, and that the malice around the ban could be observed in the nature of its severity.
He also questioned why the travel ban went down to touch on Wako's son and family, saying it was basically to prove a political point and hit the AG below the belt.
Malala added that if there was anyone who was hellbent in ensuring that the economy of Kenya sunk, it was none other than William Ruto.
