Published on November 19, 2019, a fatal accident occurred at Sachangwan on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway, claiming two lives and injuring nine others.
The accident happened when the driver of a 14-seater matatu lost control, causing the vehicle to roll several times.
According to Nakuru County Police Commander Stephen Matu, the driver attempted to avoid a collision with an oncoming lorry but instead hit a wall.
Witnesses claimed the matatu, which was traveling from Eldoret, was on the wrong side of the road at the time of the accident.
The injured were taken to various hospitals in Molo for treatment.
Sachangwan has a notorious reputation for being a black spot for motorists, with several horrific accidents occurring there in the past.
One such incident occurred in December 2017, when at least 20 people died in a multiple car crash involving 13 vehicles, including a Modern Coast bus and several private vehicles.
Eight years prior to that, over 100 people lost their lives after a tanker burst into flames following an accident at Sachangwan.
