On November 19, 2019, Fr. Michael Kyengo, a Catholic priest who was kidnapped and brutally murdered, was buried in Machakos, Kenya.

The burial ceremony was attended by family members and area leaders who expressed outrage over the killing and called on the government to act quickly to prosecute the suspects.

Matungulu lawmaker Stephen Mule emphasized the importance of upholding the law and respecting human rights, saying, "Nobody is above the law and we need to respect human right and the dignity of the society."

Fr. Kyengo was kidnapped last month while driving from his Tala home in Machakos. His body was later found in a shallow grave in Embu, approximately three hours away from Machakos.

During the requiem mass, Nicholas Masyuki, the family's representative, condemned the love of money that had led to the devaluation of human life, saying, "You can't get rid of a life because of money."

The mass was led by Machakos Catholic Diocese Bishop Norman King'oo at the Katoloni Pastoral Centre.

Fr. Kyengo had been serving as an assistant priest in Thatha parish, Machakos diocese, since his ordination as a priest in 2012.
