On November 19, 2019, Samburu North Member of Parliament Alois Lentoimaga was questioned by DCI officers in Maralal town for over six hours.
The MP was being investigated over allegations of incitement to violence and cattle rustling in his constituency.
According to Seroney Soo, the county's criminal investigative officer, other individuals would be summoned for questioning as the investigation continues.
“We shall continue summoning others as well so that we know the genesis of these raids in Samburu North,” Soo said.
Lentoimaga denied the allegations, stating that he has a deep understanding of the rule of law due to his over 30 years of experience as an administrator.
“I deny all these allegations. I am an elected leader and a lawmaker of this country and I have served for more than 30 years as an administrator in public service, so I understand the rule of law,” he said.
The MP attributed the increase in cattle rustling incidents in the region to the government's failure to recover stolen guns, livestock, and return them to affected families.
