On November 12th, 2019, a tragic incident unfolded at Kisumu Polytechnic when a first-year student, Dorcas Jamilla Ouma, was brutally assaulted by her jilted boyfriend.
According to eyewitnesses, Dorcas was stabbed multiple times and did not die immediately. She was rushed to the hospital, where she named her assailant before passing away.
Her ex-boyfriend was arrested the next day, November 13th, 2019, after hiding in a bush.
Days before the attack, the boyfriend had taken to social media to rant about his broken heart, posting ominous messages that would later prove to be a chilling prediction of his actions.
“Be careful when you love that girl you see on my profile picture. She has killed me. Real love is not there and can never exist,” he wrote on Facebook.
He continued to express his anger and resentment, claiming that he was the first man in Dorcas' life but was now rejected by her and her family due to his poverty.
