Published on November 19, 2019, Spain concluded their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a resounding 5-0 victory over Romania at home, amidst growing concerns over the future of their national team coach, Robert Moreno.

Spain's Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring in the eighth minute, followed by Gerard Moreno's double and an own goal from Romania's Adrian Rus before the break. Mikel Oyarzabal sealed the win with a low strike in stoppage time.

Moreno's position was questioned before the match, with reports suggesting Luis Enrique could return to the role. Moreno, however, remained tight-lipped, skipping the post-match news conference and refusing to comment on his future.

Gerard Moreno and Mikel Oyarzabal expressed their support for the coach, stating that they could not speculate on his future and that his work had been reflected on the pitch.

Romania's coach, Cosmin Contra, confirmed that he would leave his role when his contract expires in December.

Spain had secured their place at the finals a month ago and topped Group F with a 7-0 win over Malta. Despite their dominant performance, Romania had no chance of qualifying from the group but secured a playoff spot via the UEFA Nations League.
