On November 19, 2019, a violent confrontation between protesters and security forces in Iran resulted in the deaths of at least five people, including three security personnel.
According to reports, the three victims were ambushed by rioters wielding knives and machetes west of the capital, Tehran.
Among the deceased was Morteza Ebrahimi, a commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and father of a newborn child, as reported by Fars news agency.
The other two victims were identified as Majid Sheikhi, 22, and Mostafa Rezaie, 33, both members of the Basij militia, a volunteer force loyal to the establishment.
State television announced plans to hold a ceremony in honor of Ebrahimi and Rezaie in Tehran on Tuesday afternoon.
