Published on November 19, 2019, Athletics Kenya has announced plans to host the national trials for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret from June 19 to 21.

The trials are part of Athletics Kenya's preparations for the 32nd Summer Games, which will take place in Tokyo, Japan from July 24 to August 9.

According to AK senior vice president Paul Mutwii, the organization hopes to name a strong squad for the Olympics and is working to ensure that the government completes construction works at the venue by the time of the trials.

AK hosted the trials for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games at Kipchoge Keino Stadium, which proved a major success despite some challenges with the facilities at the venue.

"With the architectural changes at the venue, we should be able to host another successful trials at the venue," said Mutwii, who is the director of technical and competitions.

The trials for the Africa Senior Athletics Championships and World Under-20 Championships will be held in Nairobi, while the residential training for the Tokyo Olympics will take place in Nairobi from June 21 to 24.
