On November 18, Silverstone Air issued a letter to its staff informing them that they had been sacked. The company cited redundancy as the reason for the layoffs, stating that the decision by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) to suspend its Dash 8 fleet had resulted in significant losses due to flight disruptions.

"Silverstone Air Services Limited has become redundant... as a result of the recent decision by KCAA to ground the company's fleet, thereby grounding our passenger services," the company stated in a letter to its staff.

The suspension of Silverstone Air's fleet came just a week after the KCAA announced that it had suspended the airline's Dash 8 fleet for 7 days to allow for inspection following a recent mishap involving one of the airline's planes.

On October 28, a rear wheel of a Silverstone Air plane detached as the plane took off from Lodwar Airstrip in Turkana County, sparking panic among passengers.
