Published on November 19, 2019, Saumu Mbuvi, the firstborn daughter of Governor Sonko, has been using her experience as a victim of domestic violence to advise women in abusive marriages.
After exposing her baby daddy Ben Gatu for being a wife batterer, Saumu has been sharing her story to raise awareness about domestic violence.
She recently shared a post on social media, celebrating all victims of domestic and abusive marriages who find the courage to walk out alive.
"I celebrate all victims of domestic and abusive marriages who find the courage to walk out alive. For those whose resilience leads to death, it's very sad. We must fight the social stigma associated with walking out to avert increased cases of homicide," she wrote.
Additionally, Saumu has been open about her past mistakes and has learned from them.
"Today I can proudly say I honor my past for being my teacher, I was just a young girl with a wild heart and didn’t know who to turn to, every time I wanted to give up and say I had enough something in me couldn’t stop fighting, fighting for a better Saumu, fighting for my future, fighting for what I deserve," she wrote.
She also emphasized the importance of perseverance and faith, saying, "So many people tried to bring me down with words and my happiness was always their heartache, people would find ways just to bring me down…but I knew what God placed in me was so special and I know he is not yet done with me…life will always give you a chance, a chance for a new beginning, a Chance for the best version of you and God, God will always be God, his love is everlasting doesn’t choose your race nor your status."
