On November 19, 2019, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria publicly criticized Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru for her involvement in the Kibra by-election.

Waiguru had campaigned for ODM's Imran Okoth on November 3, a move that Kuria deemed a grave mistake.

Speaking at a fundraiser in Kagio Primary School, Kirinyaga County, Kuria stated that Waiguru's actions would soon render her politically irrelevant.

“She has committed political suicide as the Mt Kenya region is opposed to Mr Odinga's style of politics. Residents from the region are also not happy with what Ms Waiguru did,” Kuria said.

Furthermore, Kuria expressed his opposition to the proposed referendum to change the Constitution, citing the country's financial struggles and the need to redirect funds to the agriculture sector.

“Kenya's budget has a deficit of Sh1 trillion yet selfish politicians are insisting on changes. Kenyans should say no,” Kuria emphasized.

He also called for the immediate release of the Building Bridges Initiative report, allowing the people to decide on its contents.
