As the impeachment hearings against US President Donald Trump continue, a significant majority of Americans are now in favor of his removal from office. According to a recent ABC News-Ipsos poll released on November 18, 2019, 51% of those asked said they think Trump should be tried and convicted in the US Senate.
This represents a notable increase from previous polls, with an average of 48% supporting Trump's removal, as reported by FiveThirtyEight. The ABC-Ipsos poll also showed a drop in the number of people opposing impeachment, from 46% to 38%.
However, a quarter of all those polled still do not think Trump did anything wrong. The poll also found that 58% of Americans over 18 are following the impeachment hearings at least somewhat closely, while 42% are not following closely or at all.
