On Sunday, November 17, 2019, Melta Kabiria's fans joined their players in a joyous celebration after the team's victory in the Super 8 Premier League tournament held in Kawangware, Nairobi.
With a 3-0 lead at halftime, Melta Kabiria sealed their title by defeating NYSA 4-0 at the BP grounds in Kawangware, securing 61 points and sending their fans into a frenzy.
At a colorful ceremony, Extreme Sports' head of operations, Athanus Obala Obango, presented the team with a glittering trophy in front of thousands of fans who had gathered to witness the occasion.
However, the match between Githurai All Stars and Rongai All Stars was abandoned in the 78th minute due to crowd trouble, with Githurai leading 1-0. This development meant that Githurai was poised to finish second in the league, while Technical University of Kenya (TUK) was set to finish third with 59 points.
According to Melta Kabiria captain Wilson Karanja, the team's title win was a result of their hard work and dedication. 'We really made our title intentions clear from the start of the league and took every match with the seriousness they deserved as we sought to prove we can do better. I feel happy about this, working as a team has made us achieve this and we dedicate this title to the community, the fans, and technical bench,' Karanja said.
