On November 18, 2019, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha announced the 2019 KCPE results at Mtihani House in Nairobi, declaring the exams credible and leakage-free.
Magoha attributed the success to the efforts of teachers and students, stating that there were only a few cases of impersonation but no exam leakage.
"In terms of malpractices, I am very proud I don’t have much to write home about, there were one or two cases of impersonation but otherwise our children were left alone to do their exams on their own," Magoha said.
He also noted that the number of pregnant candidates had dropped compared to previous years and urged parents and teachers to create time for their children.
Teacher Service Commission CEO Nancy Macharia echoed Magoha's sentiments, stating that the examination process was largely credible despite isolated cases of cheating and other exam malpractices.
Macharia added that 56 teachers were under investigation for exam malpractices, and Magoha had banned all non-academic events in schools during the third term to prevent further malpractice.
