On November 18, 2019, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha announced the results of the 2019 KCPE examinations in Nairobi.
Andy Michael Munyiri of Damacrest School, Thogoto, emerged as the top candidate with a score of 440 marks out of 500.
Three students, Flavian Onyango, June Cheptoo, and Michael Ndungu, shared the second position with 439 marks.
According to Prof Magoha, a total of 1,083,456 candidates sat for the exams, with 543,000 being male and the rest female.
Prof Magoha noted that 9,770 candidates scored 400 marks, a drop from the 11,559 candidates who achieved that threshold the previous year.
Boys outperformed girls in Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, while girls excelled in English, Kiswahili, and Kenya Sign Language.
Parents, candidates, and the public can now access the results instantly by sending the candidate's name followed by 'KCPE' to 20076.
18 counties registered more female candidates than male candidates during the 2019 KCPE exams.
The top three counties with the highest number of candidates were Nairobi, Kakamega, and Nakuru, while Lamu, Isiolo, and Samburu had the lowest number of candidates.
