Published on November 18, 2019, political analyst Herman Manyora has urged Deputy President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga to put aside their differences and seal a peace deal.
Manyora made the call while appearing as a guest on NTV's morning show AM Live, aired from Monday to Friday.
He argued that a 'handshake' between the two political giants is what the country needs to achieve its development potential.
“Some form of statesmanship is required from these gentlemen. They ought to sit together and put the country first and also think about our children and grandchildren,” explained Manyora.
Manyora's call comes as a reminder of the 2018 'handshake' deal between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga, which has been credited with ensuring peace in the country and an ideal working and business environment between Kenyans.
However, Ruto and Odinga, who were once political allies, have remained at loggerheads, with analysts pointing out that the duo remains favourites to succeed President Kenyatta when his term of office expires in 2022.
