Woman Found Dead in Nakuru After Meeting Estranged Husband ¶
On November 10, Faith Wangui left her home to attend church in Nakuru, but she never returned. Her family later discovered that she had met her estranged husband, Joseph Muchiri, at an entertainment joint in Nakuru town.
According to her brother, Joseph Mwangi, Wangui had separated from Muchiri a year ago after six years of a troubled marriage. However, she had recently begun to reconnect with him, often visiting him in Nakuru and spending nights at his place without returning home.
On the evening of November 10, Wangui called Mwangi at 7pm, stating that she was planning to meet someone in the central business district. Later, her family members were informed that she had been spotted with Muchiri in a nightclub in Nakuru town.
The two reportedly left the entertainment joint at 9:30pm, and Wangui was never seen again. Her phone remained off, and her family's attempts to reach her were unsuccessful.
Days later, Wangui's body was found in a forest near Menengai Crater in Kiamaina Ward of Bahati constituency, Nakuru county. The body was severely deformed, with her face doused in acid and her arm and one breast missing. Authorities suspect that wild animals may have fed on the corpse.
The incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns about the safety of women in Kenya. It comes just days after police in Laikipia recovered the remains of a mother and her two children, who were buried in a shallow grave at Makaburini area.
