On November 16, 2019, George Kiarie, the manager of Kenya Commercial Bank's (KCB) Nanyuki branch, failed to report to work, prompting his colleagues to try and reach him. His phone was switched off, sparking concern among his junior staff.
Laikipia County Commander Maxwell Nyaema revealed that one of the employees filed a report at the Nanyuki Police Station, leading to a visit to Kiarie's house at Immanuel Flats in Nanyuki Town. Police officers broke into his room and found his body in the toilet.
Investigations have been launched into the possible cause of Kiarie's sudden death. The body was transferred to the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
Condolence messages poured in from colleagues and friends, including Margaret Kichi Gitonga, Esther Wambugu, Faith Basiye, Stellah Nteiye, Arthur Kamau, and Maina Githae.
