Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to receive funds to strengthen his squad in January, with a focus on taking the team back into the top four of the Premier League.

According to reports, Solskjaer has drawn up a shortlist of eight long-term transfer targets, with a mix of youth and experience.

One of the top targets is Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho, who is valued at £100m. Sancho would likely go straight into the United side, but the club is considering loaning another top target, Erling Haaland, back to Red Bull Salzburg as he continues his remarkable campaign.

Haaland, who is valued at £80m, has been in scintillating form for Salzburg, and United are weighing up whether to bring him in immediately or loan him back to the Austrian club.

Other players on Solskjaer's radar include Leicester and England star James Maddison, who is valued at £60m, and West Ham's Declan Rice, who is valued at £45m.

United are also considering a move for Bournemouth's Callum Wilson, who is valued at £30m, and Lyon's Moussa Dembele, who is valued at £40m.

Additionally, the club has made checks on Aston Villa pair John McGinn and Jack Grealish, with McGinn valued at £20m and Grealish valued at £40m.

These targets are likely to be long-term options for United, but they could make a move in January if they become available.
