On November 10, Faith Wangui, a 25-year-old mother of two, went missing after leaving Muranga to take her children to their aunt's place in Nakuru for the December holidays.

Her body was later found near Menengai Crater in Nakuru, six days after she went missing, with her left hand and breast chopped off and her face doused in acid.

According to her sister, Wangui had told her that she had a date in town at around 11 pm, but later texted her saying that the people she was hanging out with had requested they change the venue and go to Menengai Resort club.

Wangui's brother confronted her estranged lover, Joseph Muchiri, who confirmed that they were together and showed him an M-Pesa transaction message he received after paying for food at a local entertainment joint.

However, the family alleged that Muchiri was very abusive and that Wangui was forced to leave him last year due to his violent behavior, including beating her while she was pregnant.
