On November 17, 2019, United States International University-Africa (USIU) RFC marked a significant milestone in the KRU Championship by securing their first away win of the season.
USIU RFC overpowered University of Eldoret Trojans 20-16 in Eldoret, with captain Eliud Mulakoli playing a crucial role in the victory.
Mulakoli scored a penalty, a try, a drop goal, and made two conversions, while Fred Okoth also contributed with a try. The win was a testament to the team's hard work and determination.
‘We played well with determination and we are delighted to have bagged our first away win, which shows our growth considering last season’s poor away form we had,’ Mulakoli Mbeche said in an interview with Standard Sports.
Meanwhile, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST RFC) maintained their perfect start to the 2019-20 KRU Championship with an 8-6 win against Kisii RFC.
Strathmore Leos also made headlines by ending Mombasa RFC’s home-unbeaten run with a 26-14 win at Mombasa Sports Club.
Other notable results included Northern Suburbs beating South Coast Pirates 14-3, Egerton Wasps edging Eldoret 6-3, and Mean Machine securing their second win of the season by beating Catholic Monks 10-3.
