On September 13th, 2019, the decomposing body of Dutch businessman Tob Cohen was found in an underground water tank at his home in Nairobi's Kitisuru estate.
His wife, Sarah Wairimu, is accused of his murder and is seeking phone records of three of President Kenyatta's close relatives as part of the evidence in the case.
Through her lawyer, Philip Murgor, Wairimu is seeking the records of President Uhuru's first cousin, Ngengi Muigai, his wife Wangui Ngengi, and Captain Muigai Kungu, who is also a cousin of Uhuru.
The records are for a period of three months, from July 1st to September 30th, and include all calls and SMS sent by the three individuals, as well as 20 other persons.
Wairimu is also seeking the call data of all the persons lined up by the prosecution as witnesses in the murder case.
She is charged with the murder of Cohen alongside Peter Karanja, the estranged husband to Gilgil MP Martha Wangari, and the two are out on bond.
