Published on November 18, 2019, Ngina Kenyatta, the daughter of President Uhuru Kenyatta, spoke at the Africa Philanthropy Conference in Nairobi, urging African youth to venture into new and innovative fields to address unemployment.

As the Director of the Kenyatta Trust, Ngina emphasized the importance of acquiring skills that match the economic and development needs of society, citing the principle of teaching people how to fish rather than giving them fish.

She shared an example of a student from Turkana who was sponsored by the Kenyatta Trust for high school studies and is now studying Petroleum Engineering in China.

However, many Kenyans online were critical of Ngina's speech, questioning her credibility on addressing unemployment given her family background and the government's perceived failure to deliver on job creation promises.

Some Twitter users pointed out that Ngina's father, President Uhuru Kenyatta, has been criticized for his handling of the economy and job creation, and that she may not fully understand the struggles of ordinary Kenyans.
