On November 17, 2019, a group of thugs hijacked a Buruburu bus in the Buruburu area, leaving several passengers injured.
The bus, which was carrying 50 passengers, was taken over by the gang at Hamza area in Jogo road. The driver was ordered to the back seats, and the gang took control of the vehicle.
The passengers were left screaming as the gang drove the bus recklessly through the Buruburu shopping center. A bodaboda man, who witnessed the unusual incident, alerted the police patrolling in the area.
As the bus approached Mimias road, one of the thugs who was driving panicked and lost control, causing the bus to overturn onto its left side.
Two of the thugs were shot dead by the police, and two homemade pistols were seized. Three others narrowly escaped.
According to one of the passengers, 'The bus overturned landing on its left side. The gang escaped from the bus as the other passengers struggled to get out.'
