Mamake Joyce Syombua's Warning Ignored: Three Bodies Found in Laikipia ¶
On November 16, 2019, police discovered three bodies in the Makaburini area of Laikipia County, Kenya. The bodies were later identified as those of Joyce Syombua and her two children, Shanice and Michael.
According to reports, Syombua had warned her daughter to avoid visiting her estranged husband, Peter Mugure, in Nanyuki. However, the daughter ignored her mother's warning and visited Mugure, leading to their disappearance and presumed murder.
Elizabeth Maua Malombe, a relative of Syombua, stated that she had expressed her concerns to Syombua about the potential dangers of the visit. Malombe said, 'I told her that I had a bad feeling about the visit, and that it could lead to harm to her children and grandchildren.'
Malombe also revealed that Syombua had won a court case against Mugure, who was accused of failing to provide for his children. Mugure was ordered to undergo a DNA test to determine if he was the father of the children.
Despite the court order, Mugure was allowed to visit his children, and it was during one of these visits that the three went missing. The police later found their bodies in the Makaburini area, which is approximately 10 minutes from the Nanyuki military camp.
On November 15, 2019, Mugure was arrested after Malombe reported him to the police for failing to communicate with his daughter. Syombua, who was known as Farizana, had also been involved in a dispute with Mugure over child support.
