Air Namibia and Korean Air Planes Collide at Frankfurt Airport

On November 16, 2019, a collision between two aircraft occurred at Frankfurt airport, leaving both planes damaged.

Air Namibia described the incident as a 'minor accident', while a spokeswoman for Frankfurt airport stated that the incident happened at around 6:00 pm (1700 GMT) on Saturday.

The collision involved the left wing of an Air Namibia plane and the horizontal stabiliser of Korean Air flight KE905, which was waiting on the taxiway after landing.

Korean Air reported that its Seoul-bound return flight was delayed by 21 hours, with affected passengers offered accommodation.

A replacement aircraft was set to take off on Sunday afternoon, while Air Namibia offered accommodation to 244 passengers due to travel from Frankfurt to Windhoek.

The Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU) has opened an investigation into the cause of the collision.
