November 17, 2019 - Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, who has been left out of the Gunners' squad since a confrontation with fans at Emirates Stadium.
The 27-year-old midfielder has not played for Arsenal since the incident, which saw him angrily react to being booed by supporters as he left the pitch.
According to reports, Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is keen to sign Xhaka, and is hoping that his teammate at the national team, Fabian Schar, can convince him to join the club on loan in January 2020.
However, any deal would require Newcastle United to pay a significant portion of Xhaka's Arsenal wages.
As the transfer window approaches, Xhaka's future at Arsenal remains uncertain, with reports suggesting that he is ready to leave the club when the window opens.
Meanwhile, Fabian Schar has expressed his support for Xhaka, saying, ''Xhaka's treatment from the Arsenal fans is the worst thing that can happen to a player and I can't wait to give him a hug when I see him next,''
