On November 8th, 2019, Sarah Wairimu, the widow of slain Dutch billionaire Tob Cohen, wrote to the Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji, requesting phone records of several individuals, including President Uhuru Kenyatta's relatives.

Wairimu, a key suspect in the murder case, is seeking records of all calls made and received by Ngengi Muigai, Uhuru's first cousin, his wife Wangui Ngengi, and Captain Muigai Kungu, also a cousin of the President, between July 1st and September 30th.

She also requested phone records of 23 other individuals, including Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti, former MP Patrick Muiruri, and State prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki.

Wairimu's lawyer, Philip Murgor, stated in the letter that the prosecution has failed to provide any mobile phone data as evidence, but has selectively provided data that appears to implicate their client.

Wairimu is also fighting to nullify the late billionaire's will and has been released on bond, along with her co-accused, Peter Karanja.
