On Saturday night, a devastating road accident occurred at Mida area along the Malindi-Mombasa Highway, claiming the lives of three people and leaving more than 20 others injured.
The accident involved a matatu and a Toyota Wish Car, with the driver of the saloon car among those who perished.
According to Malindi Traffic Police Commander George Naybei, the matatu, carrying 14 passengers, collided head-on with the saloon car heading in the opposite direction.
The driver of the saloon car was attempting to overtake another vehicle at high speed when the accident occurred, said Commander Naybei.
The injured were rushed to Malindi Sub County Hospital, where many suffered broken limbs, arms, and ribs, according to the hospital's Medical Superintendent, Doctor Evans Ogato.
The bodies of the dead are currently at the Malindi Sub county Hospital's mortuary.
