On November 15, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted a meeting at Sagana, where members of the Tanga Tanga wing of Jubilee were left feeling humiliated and sidelined.

According to sources, the meeting was convened by Nderitu Gachagua, and it was apparent that President Kenyatta had carefully chosen his allies, both elected and non-elected leaders, to achieve his agenda in the region.

The Tanga Tanga team was reportedly upset about missing out on speaking slots and the bad chemistry between them and the President's men. When President Kenyatta disembarked from the Kenya Air Force chopper, Nyeri leaders were at hand to receive him, but the Tanga Tanga MPs felt snubbed.

MP Kimani Ngunjiri questioned the President's motives, saying, 'I cannot comprehend why the President decided to work with people who are not elected. Why was the area MP not given a chance to speak if for sure this meeting was to bring leaders from Mt Kenya together? Why treat leaders with contempt in their own area?'

The elevation of non-elected leaders to play a prominent role in the meeting particularly irked the Tanga Tanga MPs, who feared that the President was trying to blindside them.
