On November 17, 2019, Kabras Sugar made a statement in the Kenya Cup, securing their fourth consecutive win with a 40-15 triumph over Nondescripts at the Jamhuri Showground.
With their victory, Kabras Sugar earned a winning bonus point, taking their tally to 20, while Nondies remained on six points after winning just one match.
The Kakamega-based side, who handed Fijian Avisai Kuruyawa his first start of the season, scored six tries and five conversions, while Nondies managed two tries, a conversion, and a penalty.
It was always going to be a tough challenge for Nondies, who had a poor head-to-head record against Kabras Sugar, having won only one of their last six meetings.
As the league leaders took a 28-3 lead at half-time, it became clear that Nondies would struggle to cause an upset.
Early in the match, Jone Kubu set up Felix Ayange for a converted try, and Kubu later added the extras to Avisai's try, sending Kabras Sugar 14-0 up.
The sugar millers continued to pressure Nondies in their territory, allowing Ntabeni Dukisa to cross the whitewash and seal the match for Kabras Sugar.
