Kenya's national football team Harambee Stars arrived back in the country on November 16, 2019, after a long journey from Egypt, where they drew 1-1 against the hosts in the first 2021 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers Group G match.

Despite facing several obstacles, including a long flight route and early injuries to goalkeeper Patrick Matasi (thigh) and winger Ayub Timbe (foot), the team gave a good account of themselves.

Stars captain Victor Wanyama believes the upcoming match against Sparrow Hawks of Togo presents a perfect opportunity for the team to draw closer to Afcon qualification in Cameroon.

Head coach Francis Kimanzi praised his players' commitment and performance in North Africa, saying: "Compared to the preparation we had, at least we saw some improvement and I was satisfied with the performance. We can build something from that."

However, the team will have to work with what they have, as Matasi and Timbe are doubtful for the match due to their injuries.

Wanyama added that the team drew motivation from the 2019 Afcon finals for the Alexandria draw, saying: "Yeah, we are tired but mentally we need to shake up and be ready for the game. We have to switch on and try to give our best."
