On October 12, 2019, Eliud Kipchoge made history by becoming the first human being to run a marathon in under two hours, clocking a record 1:59:40 at the INEOS Challenge in Vienna, Austria.
As part of his reward, Kipchoge was handed a brand new Isuzu D-Max single cab pick-up worth Ksh 4.1 million by Isuzu East Africa, a gesture that reflects the company's commitment to supporting its brand ambassadors.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Kipchoge expressed his gratitude to Isuzu East Africa and emphasized the importance of believing in oneself. 'If I could break the sub-two-hour barrier then it is possible to complete a normal marathon in under two hours. There is no much difference because the course was 42km like any other. It is only about believing in yourself,' he said.
Isuzu East Africa Managing Director Rita Kavashe lauded Kipchoge for his record-breaking heroics, stating that the company had supported him because it saw an opportunity to give him a chance to win. 'Eliud has been our brand ambassador and we have travelled a long journey with him. We decided to support Eliud because we saw we could give him an opportunity to win. In our organization we do not believe in limitations,' she said.
