On November 16, 2019, Germany's Greens party held its annual congress in Bielefeld, western Germany, where 800 delegates gathered to decide the fate of their leadership duo.

Annalena Baerbock and Robert Habeck, credited with the party's recent electoral successes, were overwhelmingly re-elected with 97.1 and 90.4 percent of the vote respectively.

These scores significantly surpassed their initial votes in January 2018, when they were first appointed to their positions.

The charismatic pair's re-election has raised hopes within the party that they will play a greater role in national politics in the future.

The party still needs to decide on its candidate for the 2020 legislative elections, with both Habeck and Baerbock being considered as potential candidates.
