On November 16, 2019, Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala made headlines after daring Amani National Congress Party to expel him.
At a press conference in Kakamega town, the senator stated that he was not apologetic for his actions, emphasizing that he would rather face a by-election than apologize to party leader Musalia Mudavadi.
Malala's defiance comes after he attended a rally in support of ODM candidate Bernard Imran Okoth on November 27, where he claimed to be ANC's 'highest-placed leader'.
He further alleged that ANC candidate Eliud Owalo was Deputy President William Ruto's 'project', sparking controversy within the party.
